Day 130

Sat around, did little of anything, conquered a solar system, shot some Kirby looking dudes. Decent day overall.

Picture: When you see it...

Background: ...it'll see you! The 'rents put faces on trees a few years back. They told me a week or two ago that they were actually growing into the trees themselves. So in a few years they might even be gone, with just a face imprint left. Creepy to think about, isn't it? But they look pretty cool, especially from a distance like this.

Day 129

For some reason I searched the number 129 to see if it was prime (it's not, it's apparently semiprime), and it's actually the sum of the first ten primes. It's even a happy number! Seriously, where do mathematicians come up with this stuff.

Picture: Sorry, flower-namer, I actually know this one!

Background: It's a marigold! Emphasis on the "gold". Then again, it does look merry. This is probably one of half a dozen flowers I can name by sight. I took this (along with what will probably be the next few days' worth of pictures) on Saturday after working outside for a bit.

For today, I went to work for my brother that's closest in age to me. He does catering around here, and today's job was a 400 person deal. I haven't gotten up at 6 in the morning in quite awhile, and I hope I don't have to until July when I work for him next.

Day 128

Picture: Who are these folks?

Background: Aunt + Her Husband + their two boys were in Georgia this weekend, so lunch was had with the whole family. I didn't really get a good picture of anybody, but here's one. The guy turned around is my uncle, and those are my cousins. My Uncle kind of looks like the band director at Tech with that shirt on, except taller. Because, you know, everybody's taller than...

Anyway, lots of driving too. I also got a new book that I'll have to blab to you all about, since the author is supposedly a mix of Douglas Adams and Stephen King. So it sounds good already.

today's video is...oh my god...

Day 127

So many nature pictures taken today!

Picture: Flowery!

Background: Lily? I think that's what my mom said they were. We've got probably 10 of them growing around a little part of the garden. I worked outside with the 'rents today for a bit, hauling stuff around in our Rhino. It's a four wheeled joyride every time I jump in, even if it's for work. We've got a trail behind our house that Dad and Brother carved out last summer. It probably could be blazed again this summer sometime. I might put that on my to-do list...

today's video is, again, nyannyannyannyannyannyannyannyannyannyannyannyan....

Day 126

Too close to midnight for comfort.

Picture: GRRR

Background: Why am I growling at some CDs? Well, iTunes won't let me burn a CD, claiming that what I enter into my laptop is not a blank disc, even though it is. I've had this problem before, and I've fixed it (obviously, considering I burned two before it started hating me). It's even more annoying because I was trying to get a mix of Explosions in the Sky onto CD when it screwed up. And EITS is an amazing band. Seriously.

today's video is a cappella goodness...

Day 125

Yeah, I got home from work at around midnight, so I figured I put off taking the picture until before I went to bed. Then I didn't take one. So...yesterday's update, today!

Picture: Inspiration?

Background: I got the idea mainly from this index card. This woman has a lot of good and interesting graphs - and I promise, you don't need to know math very well to understand what she's saying. Though I may not always agree with her, they're often times very good. I could've probably done this better on a piece of paper or sticky note, but honestly, the whiteboard was the size that I was looking for in order to compare.

today's video is about being loud...

Day 124

Picture: $1.17 tip

Background: I was calculating a tip I was giving for the night, and if I wanted the bill to come out even, I would've had to tip x.17 (since the bill was x.83). So, in the spirit of the number, I tipped $1.17 and saved the customer copy of the receipt. I know, my thumb's nail is really long, don't judge me. I just don't really think about them.

Last night was...interesting. I don't want to go into detail, but I learned about things and found out about things that I didn't know were true. Yes, very vague and mysterious, but I'm not going to bother you all with my problems. But I've been feeling down since about 5am and my favorite music isn't helping. Heck, I drove home in silence, so you know there's something strange going on. I'll be fine, though, I promise :)

Day 123

I'm being proactive? Over summer break? Nonsense!

Picture: It's me again

Background: Last night I was getting a bit experimental with my photos for once. The originals look nothing like the edits - this being an edited version of one of the ninety or hundred pictures I took. I really don't know what inspired this, but as soon as I took one or two, I kept going. Most of them make me look like an angsty, depressed, emo teenager, but that was sort of what I was going for anyway (I'm none of those, by the way). Something different, for a change. And now that I finally realized how cropping/contrast/adjusting pictures can make them look so much better, I think I'll stick with maybe messing with pictures now and again. It was pretty fun (especially at 3am). The full gallery can be found here if you're interested.

I'm probably going to be home past midnight, so I was going to update now since I won't get back for awhile. About time I didn't have an 11pm update! It's been awhile.

today's video is about falling down...

Day 122

Awww yeah.

Picture: A red flower

Background: I'm sure my local flower-namer will be around soon. This is hanging up by the front porch. I tried something different for taking the picture tonight. I used the macro setting (for taking up close pictures), backed up, and used flash after zooming in. Got a couple pictures of a clematis that came out interesting as well. I had to use flash due to it being dark outside, but the marigold picture I took without flash might be decent enough to show you all. If it was more in focus, the golden color with the night background would make it "glow" (as my mother said when I showed the ones I took to her).

Day 121

[404 - Pretext not found]

Picture: Grrr!

Background: DND with miniatures. This is my character. He kicks some serious tail, and he never dies. NEVER. Now, I know the fact that going on and on about your character will bore the pants off of somebody else, so I won't go into detail or anything, but he has special stuff to where he keeps popping up after being knocked down to no health. Gaming was pretty fun today, since it's been well over a month or two since I've last played any face-to-face tabletop games.

Decent day otherwise, can't complain. Traded my mattress with the one in the grandkids' playroom, since my back was killing me since I got back from Tech. Things are better now! Hurray.

today's video is a shapely remix...

Day 120

Four months in! One third of the way through! I can do this, hopefully.

Picture: Mr. Hawk

Background: This fella lives in our backyard. He often sits on the deck, since my dad sets out meat and fat that we don't eat for him to munch on. He's had a family or two, and we can usually see his nest in one of the large trees in the back yard. Today he was getting dive-bombed by angry blue jays while I was taking pictures, but I still managed to get some good ones. The bad part is that I had to take them through a dirty window, so the quality could stand to be better on the six good ones that came out (out of the 15 I took before he flew off). Irregardless, I'm happy with this one.

I was actually thinking over what could be today's picture as I pulled into the garage. I thought I had an idea, but then I walked inside my house and saw him perched there. Thankfully he didn't fly off when I turned on the camera!

today's video is awesome science...

Edit: Ah, and before I forget, it looks like we all lived through the rapture. I'm not surprised to still be around, how about you guys?

Friday, May 20, 2011

Day 119

Picture: A...lobster?

Background: No, a crawdad! I started work again today, and that's part of our uniform, along with a nifty shirt design that looks eerily similar. Then again, maybe not "eerily" similar, but it's got the same design concept. And I managed to sneak in a piece of my GT hat, too, on "accident". My back is killing me right now, but that's probably because I need a new mattress. Work didn't help, but I'm not complaining because hey - I'm working. I won't complain about that for sure.

Day 118

It'll be a miracle if I can get through the summer and take a picture every day...

Picture: A baseball bat

Background: This has been sitting under my bed for a few reasons. When I first brought it up from the basement, my dad was probably wondering what in the world they were. Well, in case of zombies, intruders, or velociraptors, I've got something to defend myself with. Simple as that. And it's a Braves bat that I got from a game! That makes it even better, obviously.

Ignore the Dr. Seuss back scratcher to the right.

today's video is also about baseball...

Day 117

It's Day 117! Hurrah! Time to celebrate!

Picture: Me! What am I doing with my hands..?

Background: My right hand is two 1's, and my left hand is the sign language symbol for 7. So, it's 117! If I ever have a gang sign, it would be this.

...I'm such a dork.

Anyway, for your pleasure, I've got a whole web page dedicated to my little obsession over this number. The page is somewhat weird looking, but it's better than what it could have been. I'm no web page designer, that's for sure.

A few more facts about the number:
  • The year 117 started on a Thursday - and I never got the hang of Thursdays
  • It is a pentagonal number
  • It is an emergency number in Portugal, Switzerland, and the Philippines
  • The main Spartan named John in the Halo series is number 117
  • Only one person has died at age 117, Marie-Louise Fébronie Meilleur of Canada
  • GA Highway 117 is also known as Rhine Highway
  • When you enter it into Google, this is the first webpage that comes up. For Youtube, it is this song.
  • The number just happens to have a Facebook page, that just happens to relate to this blog heavily.
And, of course, it follows you and I everywhere we go. Happy May 18th, day 117 in my Project 365.

Day 116

Hey! Tomorrow is the 117th day! If you happen to have any pictures to do with 117, just yell.

Picture: You're so jealous

Background: Or, you would be, except you won't be jealous of the fact that, just before smugly thinking I was going to be rubbing these beautiful pieces of goodness in your face, I spilled the ice cream on my carpet in the bedroom. I was all high and mighty until I opened the page for posting and dropped the bowl of heaven on the floor, staining the carpeting. So before typing this out, I walked to the 'rents room, asked what to use to get the stains out, and cleaned it all up. Definitely learned a lesson today - don't put ice cream on the edge of my small desk. It'll fall. There's probably another lesson to learn about being smug and jealousy, but it escapes me.

On the plus side, if you look carefully, the Toblerones have the triforce on them. The triforce. That was the first thing I noticed about them when I was given them. Awwwww right.

today's video is about four loko...(nsfw)...

Day 115

Video games are horrible, horrible things.

Picture: Quarters!

Background: Sub-par picture today because for one, it's 2:50am, and for two, I didn't have anything interesting going on today. Video games kept me going from around 7:30 all the way until I started this post. Remember that whole big deal about the state quarters? I've got six left to go. Six! And they're all the quarters with the D on the front. All the P quarters are already on the other side. Yes, that's the carpeting in my room. Don't judge me.

Day 114

Picture: 1:17:32?

Background: Gaming time, of course! I saved a game right at 1 hour and 17 minutes and then noticed it. I didn't actually try for it this time! Awesome. Also, someone I know online showed me this list that, if you look at number 15, you'll see why he showed it to me. Number 100 is pretty good - probably the best one if you ask me.

Other than that, decent day today. Saw all my nieces/nephews today. Cuties, all of them! And with the video, the second double-update in a row is over! Blargh.

today's video is about a homemade airsoft gun...

Day 113

Okay, didn't update yesterday because once I woke up and left the house, I was gone all day. Leave me alone!

Picture: Now who ARE these people...

Background: Yesterday was pretty awesome. I got to see some cool peeps that live around me and went to lunch. Then a pool party. Then a campfire/s'mores making time at said pool party. Then watched my first two Doctor Who episodes (not bad, not bad at all...). Fun day fo' sho'. I didn't get home until 1:35am, in part to stopping by WaHo for a quick bite to eat since I get hungry in the early morning hours now. I had to take a shower when I did get home, and by the time I showered and got the chlorine out of my hair (and stopped smelling like smoke), it was about time for me to get some sleep. Good day, though. Very good day.

today's video is interesting, to say the least (nsfw)...

Day 112

Second post for today

Picture: Flower! For the umpteenth time.

Background: This is sitting right outside the bay window at the 'rents house. I ventured out on the deck for a bit while waiting to go grab dinner and I thought this would look pretty good as a photo. I have more of it, this is just the one I decided to put up here.

Happy Friday the 13th! I honestly didn't even think about the date for most of today anyway.

today's video is...wait for it...

Day 111

Last night Blogger was doing maintenance when I was trying to log in to post. So I can't help the fact that this is late. On the brighter side, I learned how to spell "maintenance" after typing it at least four or five times now!

Picture: THE WORLD

Background: This is hanging up in my room. My walls are abysmally blank, save for this map and a few other small things which you'll probably see soon. I haven't gone out much lately, and it's raining, so I probably won't go out for the rest of the day. I've given thought to drawing all over this map and giving my version of world domination, but I would have a bad feeling if anybody ever found it and started questioning my joking ways. "Joking" ways.

today's video is something i'm planning to learn on the piano eventually...

Day 110

I'm late, big deal, you guys should probably be used to this by now...-ahem-

Picture: Harry Potter?

Background: I got this book back from my sister-in-law. She had been bugging me to lend it to her, and now she returned it. I had just finished reading the sixth one (this is the seventh) in my rereading of the series. I picked it up at sometime around 2pm, maybe a little later. And I read. All day. Until nearly two in the morning. I wanted to finish it, okay? At least I took a break to write the day's post! I didn't take a break from conquering an entire solar system to write this; I finished my conquest first. Their ships needed to explode, it's not my fault!

today's video is about getting in the slow lane...(nsfw)...

Tuesday, May 10, 2011

Day 109

Oh yeahhhhhh!

Picture: Horse!

Background: When I was taking yesterday's picture, there was a horse. Just standing there. So, meaning to get one or five horse pictures from the ones across the street from where I live, I figured this was the next best thing. It works for today's picture, no? Neigh, you say?! Then you're a horse.

I pretty much read all day today. Seriously. I've been reading since I got up at 2 o'clock, and it's 10:30 now. Jeez!

today's video is also about a horse...

Monday, May 9, 2011

Day 108

Picture: Old Boring Lane

Background: If you drive around my hometown, on a road that links two of the more majors roads, you'll have a chance to catch sight of this side street. I saw it a few years back - before high school, even - and thought it was hilarious. I still think it's awesome that we've got an "Old Boring Lane". It definitely tops the backwoods street pun I saw a few years back that was named "4 Wheel" and it was a drive. Four Wheel Drive. Very lame. Old Boring Lane is better. You can quote me on that, though I'm not sure why you would.

I actually passed it and thought, "I should get a picture!". So I went to my destination, did what I wanted to do, and went back and snapped some pictures. Then went home, since I had to go home before dark. There's a headlight out on the PT and I don't want to get pulled over and have to feign ignorance about it. "But officer, my parents told me that I didn't know!" I mean, really.

today's video is crazy over the rainbow...

Sunday, May 8, 2011

Day 107

Well then.

Picture: My room is a mess

Background: I love the feeling of realizing that I haven't gotten a picture of the day at 11:30pm. Not shown: big red bag of pants/socks, mini TV, box of books, box of N64 stuff. I really need to clean, but I have had very little motivation since coming home. My desk isn't even cleaned off for my laptop. I'm THAT lazy.

Interesting day otherwise, though. After church, I went to O'Charley's with my mom (since it IS Mother's Day, after all). Trying to start the van afterward? DEAD BATTERY! So my dad came and jumped us, and we grabbed a new one. We called him, got jumped, and installed the new battery all in under an hour. Heck yeah.

today's video is about a giant piano...

Day 106

Back home, hurrah!

Background: Packing was a long ordeal. From 11pm to 4:30am, and I still had to pack a bit more the next morning. So right now I'm a bit tired, and I'm running on a decent lack of sleep. I haven't had much over the past three nights, so hopefully I'll make up for it somewhat tonight. This trashcan resulted from a bunch of things being thrown away including these sunglasses. Since I wear glasses already, there's not much use for them for me. They were pretty cheap anyway.

today's video is too damn high (and 1:17 in length)...

Day 105

Picture: Flower (again?!)

Background: After I took the picture of the shaft yesterday, I was hanging around the Student Center and got to see these little beauties staring up at me. So I got a few good pictures of them smiling at me! Like usual, I have no idea what the names of these flowers are, but I like them anyway.

I've been busy packing that I almost forgot about this for today. I'm finally leaving this wretched yet awesome school for the summer. My final presentation in my class this morning went well (we were the best ones to present - and we only know that because one of the group members was sitting right next to the professor, looking at the grades...hehe). I'm just glad that it's all over, and that I was able to stave off any naps this year until yesterday and today. Now, I go back home for the summer....after I finish packing.

today's video is my hvz speech this semester (you only need to see the first minute or so from when linked)...

Day 104

8am finals suck.

Picture: An enlarged shaft.

Background: This is actually the "Campanile", but it referred affectionately by us students as the shaft. There's even a whole song about it, to the tune of our own Alma Mater! It sits there, in the little area enclosed by the Student Center, getting renovated like half of campus. Thank God that they're going to be done with the central construction, except the Pandalism is pretty cool. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to set my alarm to get up for a presentation tomorrow (we have to end our presentation +/-10 seconds within ten minutes to not get points off). zzzz

today's video is a life-like video game...

Day 103

Picture: Me, a fedora, and a guy with a tuba.

Background: Okay, this might take some explaining. Firstly, there were a whole bunch of students who just happened to be at the nearby dinging hall that began singing a song about a certain school they dislike, as well as playing a few songs on their instruments. I just happened to catch wind of this event somehow and showed up to sing and dance along. It was great fun. The reason I got a fedora was because the bass drum player asked me to hold it for him (and I wore it instead). We went from the dining hall to the local quad to the quad in the nearby North Avenue apartments. After they played some songs there, I wanted to get a picture with the fedora. Well, this tuba player happened to suddenly want to pose with me as he passed by. So we posed. It was pretty awesome. And now, I must study for this 8am exam tomorrow that is going to shaft me, and hard....

today's video has relevant to the phrase, may the fourth be with you...

Day 102

[pre-entry text not found]

Picture: My workspace

Background: I have been sitting here all day. No, really. I've obviously ventured outside my dorm room once or twice (food, restroom), but honestly, I haven't had to go anywhere. And the rain gave me the perfect excuse not to go outside! So there hasn't been really any picture taking opportunities today. I considered another lame picture of myself, but I thought it might be worth it to take a picture of my entire desk. I mean, I'm moving out in about four days! You can see my clock, phone, towel (just barely), some papers, my lamp, and of course, all my sticky notes. My laptop was playing this song at the time. They're not really reminders for anything - most of them are silly in one way or another. I've got three more on the wall to me left and two on the TV on my right. Those five are semi-serious. So yeah, that's my workspace. Come to think of it, I should've take it with 11:17pm on my clock, but I just realized it at 11:18 as of me typing this up.

Two other interesting things: For one, I'm actually going to start proofreading these posts. I used to not, until yesterday. I'm sure it was obvious sometimes. For two, the keywords "hope there won't be too much pandalism today!" somehow got linked to my blog. Funsauce.

today's video is a second guile's theme attuned to recent events...

Day 101

Pre 9pm update. Heck yes.

Picture: Tattered red notebook

Background: I think I mentioned that I'm writing down a story...I broke 20,000 words today! Woohoo! I discovered that I can't just look at a computer screen and type out my ideas. I have to have them written down first, then type them up. That's where this notebook comes in. I think I bought an extra notebook somewhere between semesters, and I started writing in this one. I've had other places to write in before this notebook, but however I started my story in all of those, I didn't like how it was turning out. Once I sat down with this one, though, I figured it out. Right now I'm almost 30 pages into the notebook itself, counting a half of a chapter's worth that I got rid of - and it turns out to 29 pages in Open Office, single spaced. As long as it is now, the story's only just beginning, too. I've got a long way to go. And, to be perfectly honest, I'm not even sure where I'm going to steer it.

today's video is a tribute to all those who are taking finals...

Day 100

Day 100! Woohoo! And if you haven't seen the news lately (or heard about it from the 100+ Facebook status updates) then go check out CNN or FOX or BBC or something. I was watching the President's speech, so that's why I'm updating so close to midnight.

Picture: Squirrel!

Background: I was walking on my way to the Student Center when I saw this little guy. I swore, when I first saw him, that he was a statue or something, because he was standing so still. I grabbed my camera in my pocket (take it everywhere you go if you plan to do this yourself) and snapped three quick pictures before he fled. This one actually turned out really well - a lot better than I thought it would, to be honest. I figured I'd have some sort of blurry thing for today's picture, but this is a lot more focused than I expected. The people who saw me take the picture probably thought I was a little weird, but I got over that when I started taking odd pictures around campus. I mean hey, it's a squirrel! I know you see those all the time, but this setting was perfect.

today's video is about leeeeeeerooyyyyy jennnnnkinssssss.....
