Day 294

I'm not talking about yesterday.

Picture: GT

Background: But it was still fun. I was pretty exhausted from yelling during the game yesterday and was glad to get back to my room. I tried getting a drum picture already, but you could see my reflection in it. This time, I was far away and zoomed in while he was playing. I honestly don't know the battery too well (though I know some of the cymbals pretty well).

Other that that, I'm updating on time because I won't have much of a chance to later today. Tonight is a gaming marathon for charity here on campus from 8pm until noon on Sunday. I'm going to be there as much as possible, but I do like my sleep. We'll see how that turns out. I might fall asleep playing Sins, who knows.

today's video is nsfw for language...

Day 285

Oh man, three singular updates in a row! How crazily on-time.

Picture: Freeman Residence Hall

Background: I was walking to band super early today, and finally got around to taking this picture. The SUV that drove up behind me was probably wondering why in the world I was taking this picture, but I don't really mind. I snapped a couple shots and was on my way.

I signed up for Night of Musicianship for this semester. I've been wanting to, but I didn't have a practice room or anything last year like I do now. So, I'm using it so I can play for an audience! Should be plenty of fun.

I attempted to get pictures of a ladybug that landed on my RAT and crawled onto my finger, but they all either focused on my hand or were completely out of any focus. I do already have some pictures of a ladybug somewhere, though, so I'm okay with that.

Also, I began moving all my blog pictures from their individual folders to a new one. I might upload them all to Flickr at some point, except because of my lack of funds and Flickr's abundance of lame, you'll only be able to see the last 200 photos I upload. Maybe that will change at some point, but that point is a long way away.

today's video is gay, in both meanings of the term...

Day 279-282

I was messing up the count earlier, and I owe you four pictures counting today's. Okay. It won't be too hard because it's Halloween soon!

So what we have here is some friends! Nyancat, Waluigi, an Indian pirate, and a L4D hunter. That last one is me, too! There were some really cool costumes at the band party, including 99% protesters and a man in a suit holding a sign saying "I am the 1%", Link/Zelda couple, Britney Spears in her "crazy phase", Avatar, and others. Crazy cool.

Then there's that scoreboard. You see that? That's a win. Against the now 8-1 clemson tigers. By the means of our team. Victory tastes so sweet.

On top of that, I'm auditioning to be on Wheel of Fortune! So this weekend has been really awesome, and maybe Tuesday will be even better when I try out!

today's video also deals with clemson...

Day 274-278

Gosh darn. I owe five pictures. So, uh, four were taken today. As in, within the past hour or so. Unlike last big update, there won't be a wall of text then the pictures. I'll be nice and let you see the pictures first.

(as if you don't have a choice anyway)

I know what you're thinking: "Waiiiiit a minute, that's SIX pictures!"

...no? Not thinking that? Well okay. If you actually read this, then you'll see why.

So Saturday went well. Sorted some medical gear for a charity organization. But the hockey game beforehand was definitely worth the all-nighter. Even if I was a little dead for the rest of the weekend. Sunday was my sleep-in day for sure, even after my Saturday nap. Ran to evening Mass since I knew I wasn't going to get up for 11:30. Monday was exhibition night for the band! We went to a high school exhibition and rocked their socks off. We did our halftime show and the pregame show, with a little Pit interlude in between. The rest of the week has been pretty chill, to be honest.

The brick wall was some sort of drawing that I think one of the homecoming chalkers did. It was a decent drop from the top of the bricks. I thought it was cute.

The second one is on campus somewhere. If I pointed it out to you already, don't spoil it (I can delete comments! Muahaha). I didn't notice it until about two months ago. I'm willing to bet that it was there all of last year, too. Go find it!

The third one is what I'm submitting to the photography club. The theme for this two weeks is "Eye". Since I would be blind if I tried to do anything with my own eyes, I decided on the next best thing. My mechanical eyes! Apparently it's not due until a week from tomorrow, so I'm happy with that. There's also the Halloween theme too, so I'll worry about that when the time comes.

Speaking of Halloween, the main part of my costume is here: a dark, plain hoodie! I plan to look like a Hunter from L4D. Not sure how that'll work out, but we'll see! I was probably just gonna make some fake blood and grab duct tape for the rest of it, no fancy makeup or anything.

(Behind the hoodie is my band uniform, if you were wondering)

Finally, I couldn't decide on which of these I liked more. I was really leaning towards the first one until I edited them (like I always do now). Then I really liked the second one again. So I decided to use both of them! Looking back, the first probably is the better one, but the second still works really well. Thank goodness for my desk lamp and lack of laziness when it comes to photo editing.

I wish I could give prizes for actually wading through all that text.

Also, fun announcement on Sunday. It's not really anything to do with the blog, it's something that I'm doing that could turn out cool if I'm really, really lucky. We'll see.

today's video is a song i completely forgot about until today...

Day 252

I think I got my picture taking act together again! Hopefully I will not have spoken too soon.

Picture: BUZZ!!

Background: Here I was, sitting at the shaft, writing for a bit, when Buzz walked by! I didn't get a chance for a high five and he didn't head near me, but I still got a picture while he was getting a hug from some chicks nearby. I love that I actually saw Buzz during the day and not just at games like usual. He's such an awesome mascot. I mean, he's BUZZ! How can you not like such an awesome Buzz?!

today's video is a cool song by the opening act last night...

Day 209

I owe you a day, gimme a break!

Picture: Another skyline!

Background: When you've got literally no time in the day, then this is about the only picture you're able to get. I'll probably get a picture of my new room at some point, but bear with me. This weekend is planning to be a long one.

The band is mostly done with the Prelude - just gotta get it cleaned and whatnot. Then there's also the Pit playing the crazy runs in it. There's also some of the second song that we've done, that we're playing tomorrow at the stadium for parents and the like. Since that's in the afternoon, it's going to be pretty danged hot standing out there in the sun. We'll see how that all goes. The Pit has the music for the three movements. We've gone through the first one, need to work on the second one more, and will start looking at the second one soon. We also have Starlight and Pumped Up Kicks for pre-pregame stuff. So far it's sounding really good, and it's good, college level music. I'm happy, to say the least.

today's video is an entirely different kind of flying, altogether...

Day 207, 208

Two days packed together - at least I'm not behind. And, as I was told by someone, I actually had the drive to get more than just a few days in and quit.

First picture here is a nice skyline over the top of the band. They were doing some set-by-set drill. For the non-band people, it means that they were going from one position on the field to the next altogether. While they were doing that, the Pit was kind of waiting around a bit. Someone pointed out the sky looked cool, and a few of us busted out cameras - all on phones but mine.

This other one was right before mini GAC. First, this is a friend of mine's hat hair, with the hat that caused it. The whole section got the same hats at Wal-Mart on Monday. HYPE! Currently mine is pirate style (think Jack Sparrow's hat). Second, mini GAC, or Miniature Get-A-Clue, was a small event about an hour long hosted all over campus. The RAT parents hid "clues" all over that led to each other. My group finished last, but we finished. That's actually the reason I didn't update yesterday - it was 1:30am by the time I got back to my place. Then again, I played Teeworlds for half an hour anyway...

today's video is one of the songs the pit has learned to play...

Day 205, 206

Whee!

Double update time!

First, it's the view from Klaus, down Ferst street. Cars chugging along, just after lunchtime, etc. Some friends and I went out to Ray's for some "New York style pizza". I got most of the way through my calzone, so I call it a success. Percussion camp when really well this week/weekend, and we got a lot covered. Plus, the show music is insane - in an awesome way. Lots of fun stuff going on in it, including some fast paced marimba runs which are always a bunch of fun.

So yeah, I'm moved into my dorm. First day of full band camp was today, and it was mostly just a short little practicing packed with welcoming the RATs to Tech. There's gonna be some fun later in the week, too. We'll see how that turns out!

Right here is the view coming down...Tech Drive? Correct me if I'm wrong (and I know you will). The two of us getting dropped off after section dinners, along with our driver, got out to take some pictures of the moon behind the pencil building and Tech Tower. It looked really mysterious, creepy, serene, whatever you want to call it. It made me wish I had a tripod, that's for sure. After a new camera, that would be next on my list of photography equipment to buy.

I've still got lots to unpack, but of course I've already got my laptop, TV, Xbox, and bed set up. I'm just like that.

Also, I'd like to say one last thing -

I GOT ADOPTED!

^_^

[meaning, a RAT adopted me as his Vet, and I'm happy]

Day 201

I owe you day, mkay?

Picture: The shaft, except...

Background: ...with WATER! Such awesome right here. This means I finally get to swim in the fountain for the first time this year sometime soon. But first, I have to get through percussion/band camp. I don't know if I'll find time to swim during camp, but you never know. I'm not sure where my swim suit even is, other than somewhere back at home.

-Written on a hotel bed

Don't know about updates the next few days due to practicepracticepractice.

Day 91

Whee! Apparently a short post today

Picture: Giant Inflatable Buzz!

Background: I got message yesterday from someone in my high school (he's still there, I'm not). Apparently he was going to be on campus today for Earth Day, so I went and saw him. He's taller than I remember. And older. But that's too be expected. On my way out, I decided to turn around and take a picture of the giant Buzz that was towering over the whole thing. Probably 40-50 feet high. Definitely something unusual for today.

Day 63

I can explain!...Actually, I probably can't. I was just hanging out all day with a friend.

Picture: Goooo Jackets!

Background: Aww yeah. Dad actually picked this up at the car dealership near us a month or two ago. We stuck it on the front of the awesome PT Cruiser when we got home. It's a slap in the face of all the logos of that other school that are much more permeated throughout the region. That's all I have to say, otherwise I might get a war going in the comments section.

Ha. Right. Raging over the comments, here.

today's video is worth the watch...

(argh - was trying to get this post in at exactly 1:17am, but the picture uploaded more slowly than I anticipated)

Day 48

2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 3

Picture: City of Atlanta

Background: Outside the borders of campus there's a Wells Fargo that bears a mural of different things you may see when you're in Atlanta. For starters, there's the Ramblin' Wreck, which is obviously the best part of this mural. The first GT band picture can be seen in the upper right, as well as a few other Tech related things. There's the Coca Cola logo, since it's a huge part of the city. There's a train station, in remembrance of the time when Atlanta was named Terminus due to the fact that it was where several railroads ended, giving birth to the city. And who can forget the Varsity? The designer didn't, that's for sure.

Taking the picture was a little miserable. It was windy today. Too windy. Too cold. I thought we were supposed to be in Spring soon. What happened to those shorts/short sleeved shirt days we were supposed to have? And I finished taking pictures just as the Blue bus arrived. At least I didn't have to wait out in the cold for much longer for another bus to run by.

today's video is full of amazing moments, frustrating, exciting, boring, but altogether amazing...

Edit: I forgot something! Today is Miss Ella Greer's birthday. So Happy Birthday to her!
