Day 361

Dammit it's still 1/17 in my heart!

I want to wish a happy birthday to Ms. Betty White and Ms. Michelle Obama! I would look up more births and deaths, but Wikipedia is blacked out right now (for a good cause). I'm sure there's a way to get the info, but whatever.

Other than that, I hope your January 17th was as wonderful as mine. I at least know mine ended pretty well. I mostly forget the rest of the day as usual.

There's really nothing else I have to say about today. Everything I could've said, I already have.

With that, I'll give you a blast-in-your-ears song to listen to. I'm sure I've linked it here before, but it's my favorite song, so give me a break. Please?

...fine...

Day 326

I get distracted too easily.

Picture: Tech Tower

Background: Nothing to say about the picture. I've got a final tomorrow, my last one. What's going to happen after I finish this post is that I'm going to fill my belly with food and get some sleep. I'll probably roll around in my bed for an hour not going to sleep, knowing my luck.

Bonus picture below because I took two that I liked! The trees all around really took up any of the better views of the tower, so it has trees!

As I scrolled facebook, apparently someone said that they have 1117 songs in their music library. Figures.

Hopefully tomorrow won't be so bad. Wednesdays are never really that bad of days for me, generally. Then I go home Thursday! Woo!
TREES EVERYWHERE

Day 285

Oh man, three singular updates in a row! How crazily on-time.

Picture: Freeman Residence Hall

Background: I was walking to band super early today, and finally got around to taking this picture. The SUV that drove up behind me was probably wondering why in the world I was taking this picture, but I don't really mind. I snapped a couple shots and was on my way.

I signed up for Night of Musicianship for this semester. I've been wanting to, but I didn't have a practice room or anything last year like I do now. So, I'm using it so I can play for an audience! Should be plenty of fun.

I attempted to get pictures of a ladybug that landed on my RAT and crawled onto my finger, but they all either focused on my hand or were completely out of any focus. I do already have some pictures of a ladybug somewhere, though, so I'm okay with that.

Also, I began moving all my blog pictures from their individual folders to a new one. I might upload them all to Flickr at some point, except because of my lack of funds and Flickr's abundance of lame, you'll only be able to see the last 200 photos I upload. Maybe that will change at some point, but that point is a long way away.

Day 225-7

Well it's not a 11:59pm update, alright?...

Sunday was very dull. Monday almost as much, except I helped someone move some stuff. Tuesday was busier in comparison, since I actually had class. So in return, I give you a few more D*C 2011 pictures, and a 117 that I found! The paper I had to write for today had lots of reference material, and one of them had a page 117. So I had to take an obligatory picture of it.

Yeah. I uploaded them all at once for a change. It turned out kind of...off. But I'm okay with that - it reflects my personality. Speaking of which, HvZ is next week. If you're playing, you should be pumped. If you're not, then you either aren't at my school or are someone I will reject as a friend.

You should play HvZ at least once in your life. You don't know what you're missing.

today's video will catch you by total surprise...

Day 218-220

HA! Up to date!

Firstly, I don't know if I told you, but I'm writing a story. Right here, I wanted to show you about how thick it is. There are 44 pages there, all single spaced, nearly 30,000 words. I've been doing some editing in my free time. Which feels like almost never. I can never bring myself to work on it when I'm in my room, either. Something about having my laptop, TV, Xbox, etc all in one place is just barely distracting. But hey - it's a good time consumer when I'm idle. Plus, it's really enjoyable to see how far I've gotten so far.

When I'm not in class or at home, I'm probably doing something band related. The band did a couple of new sets today, so I took time out to take some pictures of the mallets I was using. That got some odd looks from one or two pit people, but I think this one looks good. I might have set the exposure a little too negative, but the ones with higher exposure made the mallets reflect light from the sun. That reminds me - I'm going to head to a photography club meeting this Thursday, and hopefully I can figure out some fun stuff from there. It also reminds me that I haven't uploaded any of these pictures to my hosting site in a long time...

I figure I'll leave you with something that I haven't posted up here in awhile. No, not a picture of me (sorry, ladies). I meant to take its picture when I went to Publix with my mother last week, but forgot all about it. When I went grocery shopping on Sunday, I had my camera with me and got this picture. Enjoy :)

The best part? My mother had parked in the parking spot that this label goes with.

Day 202, 203

This'll be quick

Pictures: Fire extinguisher label, and dinosaur nuggets eating each other

Good, long practice. Food was from lunch. Fire extinguisher in practice. Short post because roommate at the hotel is trying to get some sleep. But there's at least two pictures and I'm all caught up! Hurrah!

...omnomnom...

Probably should say something here where there's so much space. Oh well.

No video, sorry :(

Day 170

Well yesterday was July 11th, or 7/11. Which is 117 backwards. Aww yeah.

Picture: A parking lot

Background: I visited my high school band yesterday to see how they were doing - and they were doing really well! Maybe I'll be able to go see one of their games or competitions this year. I do miss the high school band a bit, but I don't mind that it's over. What passed is the past, and I enjoyed it then, so why hang onto the memory? Besides, I'm in a great band now with even more fun traditions (and it's a lot more chill compared to high school). I just can't wait until that week in August to maybe go dwarfing with a RAT that I might call my own...

Day 137

Close...almost midnight

Picture: My church

Background: Yeah, like I said yesterday, I went to a little social at church. I took advantage of the emptiness of church to take a few pictures, but I was pressed for time. They didn't come out as well as I hoped, so maybe some day (and hopefully with a better camera) I'll grab better pictures. It's really an awesome place.

I forgot to mention that I had exactly $117 in cash yesterday. I had $100 to deposit at the bank and $17 from just having cash. I was counting it all at one point and then just sat there and sighed. Figures. Later, my mom had me read off a number that went something like "...761177..."

Day 124

...

Picture: $1.17 tip

Background: I was calculating a tip I was giving for the night, and if I wanted the bill to come out even, I would've had to tip x.17 (since the bill was x.83). So, in the spirit of the number, I tipped $1.17 and saved the customer copy of the receipt. I know, my thumb's nail is really long, don't judge me. I just don't really think about them.

Last night was...interesting. I don't want to go into detail, but I learned about things and found out about things that I didn't know were true. Yes, very vague and mysterious, but I'm not going to bother you all with my problems. But I've been feeling down since about 5am and my favorite music isn't helping. Heck, I drove home in silence, so you know there's something strange going on. I'll be fine, though, I promise :)

Day 117

It's Day 117! Hurrah! Time to celebrate!

Picture: Me! What am I doing with my hands..?

Background: My right hand is two 1's, and my left hand is the sign language symbol for 7. So, it's 117! If I ever have a gang sign, it would be this.

...I'm such a dork.

Anyway, for your pleasure, I've got a whole web page dedicated to my little obsession over this number. The page is somewhat weird looking, but it's better than what it could have been. I'm no web page designer, that's for sure.

A few more facts about the number:
  • The year 117 started on a Thursday - and I never got the hang of Thursdays
  • It is a pentagonal number
  • It is an emergency number in Portugal, Switzerland, and the Philippines
  • The main Spartan named John in the Halo series is number 117
  • Only one person has died at age 117, Marie-Louise Fébronie Meilleur of Canada
  • GA Highway 117 is also known as Rhine Highway
  • When you enter it into Google, this is the first webpage that comes up. For Youtube, it is this song.
  • The number just happens to have a Facebook page, that just happens to relate to this blog heavily.
And, of course, it follows you and I everywhere we go. Happy May 18th, day 117 in my Project 365.

Day 90

Ha! Not late! Just barely. Also, three months in? Holy bajeezus.

Picture: Loose change

Background: And now my hand smells like coins. Like the metal smell when you get a whole bunch of change in your hand if you sort them all out into rolls and whatnot like I do every now and then. I've got a lamp (that I use for lighting) that has holes in it's base that is currently holding my loose change. It even spins in place! Whee! Maybe I'll take a picture of that next time I don't see anything interesting all day.

Day 84

Whee!

Picture: Bookish, are we?

Background: Man, there is NOBODY in the library right now. I'm waiting on my English 1101 group to get here to work on the Children's book that we're making. I sort of wanted to get here early so I could post this and maybe do some writing before they got here. This picture, though, was from a book I spent 5-6 hours reading over the course of last night and this morning. I had to write a 700-800 word essay summarizing and reviewing it. It's called Georgia Odyssey (by James Cobb) and I enjoyed it, oddly enough. It details the history of Georgia and peoples' personal experiences throughout its history. I was probably more interested in it because I've been born and raised in Georgia, but I wouldn't be surprised if it bored the socks off of people who aren't from here. So here's page 117, of course. I've still got to start thinking of how I'm going to put a collage of pictures for Day 117 when I get there, so we'll see how that works out.

Day 71

Hurrah! Made it back to my dorm in time to update within my time limit.

Picture: Oh, would you look at the time?

Background: Took a trip with Allan today (the Subway guy from earlier) to go see the SAPA Championships. We just barely made it in time to see our high school's winterguard perform the latter half of their show. Later saw another guy from our high school in and independent line (we're all college age if you didn't know - that's just how we know each other). There were some pretty good performances tonight. Glad I went, glad I hung out, glad today happened. And I now have an N64 in my dorm room. Awwww yeah

today's video needs to face a few facts...

Day 60

I hit "New Post" at 1:17am. I hope that makes up for the lateness for you two readers out there.

Picture: Charlie's Angels time!

Background: Okay, so the reason I was late was because I was hangin' out all day with awesome friends. I honestly didn't get home until 1am. We were gaming, literally, all day, from when I got there at 2pm all the way until about a quarter to one when we finally finished up. There was one point where someone said, "Yeah, it's nine o'clock" and I thought, "Really?!". It did not feel that late at all, but time flew like no tomorrow. Lots of Super Smash Melee going on, and some Serious Sam as well as The House of the Dead. This is me and two others of those friends with our awesome glasses trying to play a 3D Wii game (similar to House of the Dead, but not really) and then we killed some House zombiez afterward. Lots of fun was had today/tonight.

today's video is the best videogame trailer ever...

(probable nsfw warning; blood/violence/purely depressing)

Edit: Facebook page is definitely happening. It's just a matter of being home and it not being late at night.

Day 55

Meh.

Picture: Another 117

Background: So imagine that you're standing behind your marimba in percussion ensemble. If you don't know what a marimba is, then google it. The music director is beginning practice, and he tells you a measure number to start at. It's measure 117. Yes, this happened to me, of course. I just sighed and began playing. We got a lot done that class, though, so all is well.

Along with this and my story, I've got yet another project on my hands: 8-bit music for a friend's video game. So far I've got a small sample of a space theme going, but it needs expansion I think. The opening it working out so far, but I know I'll probably have to do some working with the program I'm using. It's fun, though.

today's video is all about motivation...

Day 49

Like most mornings, I really, really didn't want to get up. I don't know how I did it.

Picture: Crossword Clue #117

Background: I was in History class today after grabbing a school newspaper. I was flipping through it and began doing the crossword. I probably should've have since I was in the second row, but I was taking notes at the same time. I looked and saw a clue that said "Start of a quip by Abraham Lincoln: 5 wds." and thought I'd try out the method of circling all the quip clues like I know my mother does. So I circled three of them and saw the "End of the quip" clue, and circled it. Right after I did, I realized what number I had just circled. I just had to show it to my friend in that class (remember the picture of the Canon camera? Same person that held it). Good times were had by all involved. Though I'm kind of a jerk, according to her. She's probably right.

today's video is a very well coordinated prank...

Day 29

Hey, in Central Time, it's not past midnight yet. So my update is on time. Shut up.

Picture: Dice!

Background: More gaming at the brother's house. I like to take pictures of dice sometime, and I figured that some pictures of d8's would be relevant to the Project I've got here. We played DND, fourth edition tonight and were having some fun with some of our older characters. We killed some dudes, got beat up but lived, and had a general good time talking about porta-potties. Apparently some graffiti writers had some pretty "inspirational" things to write on the inside of them.

That's about it for today. Watched my bro's kids for a few hours, changed a dirty diaper or two. Played some Teeworlds, and began a game of conquering solar systems (about halfway done now). And I also have a very interesting opportunity tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Day 28

Four weeks? Holy crap. It doesn't feel like that long.

Picture: >:^D

Background: It's a marshmallow! I'm obsessed with HvZ, okay? And I have a Sharpie...and a stale marshmallow...I did this a few days ago. I figure that now that I've got time, I'm gonna be writing on some of my marshmallows for fun, so when the zombiez get hit, they can see the word "STUNNED!" on the marshmallow or something like that. This is my experimental one, I guess you could say. Any suggestions as to other (appropriate) things to write on them?

Had only one class today, and nothing to do over the weekend for once. I might actually play my Xbox for the first time in ages. Since the snow day/week in early January, actually. Weird.

Last night as I was about to turn off my computer for the evening, I noticed something about my top played songs...see for yourself (click!). The song playing at the top is also pretty cool, and you should listen to it and the rest of the album. It's an artist called C418 (I posted their song "acid"

Day 17

Ohmygodmydesignclasstakesforevertodothework

Picture: My desk during my classwork

Background: Long night. Which explains the late update (2am? whaaaaa). Notice the pile of sunflower seeds that help me stay awake. There's also a towel (they're super useful), sticky notes on my TV and in my desk, an Xbox 360 that hasn't been played in awhile, a measuring tape, an unhooked mouse (moved my laptop to work), and other junk. See that picture in the center? That is the cause of so much pain. I needed to design a building for some office and had this awesome hexagon idea that fell through the roof all the way to the basement. So I did a tetris block instead that works at least a hundred times better. I actually had more space than I needed, where my problem with the hexagon was the opposite.

One question that I haven't had a satisfiable answer to: Why the f@$% do handicapped people need a 13' x 18' parking space? That's like a handicapped moving truck! It's such a redonkulous size for a van when you start to think about it. My dorm room can hold a sedan and it's 15x11 or something. Not that we've tried, but a sedan would fit in here. Promise.

...I don't have anything against handicapped people, I swear! I have something against this assignment that makes me allot 234 square feet for a single car. But $5 says my first comment on this entire blog will be something hateful towards me for my rage. (don't take me up on that bet)

Oh, and I've got another 117 picture, this time from my iHome. Enjoy!

today's video is on fire (and not youtube!)...

Day 9

Whee! Sunday! Weekend! Workworkworkworkworkworkwork

Picture: Koosh? What in the..?

Background: Okay, so I've had this thing since the 3rd grade. It's a pencil sharpener! I vaguely remember getting it at Chuck E. Cheese's way back whenever. I've lost it probably three or four times now, but it's always found its way back to me. Some of my oldest friends might still remember it. It's like a token to my youth. Why I've kept it for so long, I have no clue. But it works well except when lead gets stuck inside it. Since I've basically switched over to mechanical pencils, I haven't had much use for it, so my high school friends probably have never seen this thing and I doubt it'll be put to use at all in college. It's probably one of my few keepsakes that I'll actually keep. It's survived this long (about ten years now...good God!) so why not? The side's picture is peeling, the koosh hair has been pulled on and some ripped out, some cut, the little "mouth" that holds the shavings doesn't have good hinges anymore, but I still love the thing. Plus, it's purple. Royalty color. Hell yeah.

today's video is very handy...

PS - Proof that 117 haunts me: dorm room number.
