Day 327

PACKING!

Picture: My RAT cap!

Background: I don't think I've taken a picture of it by itself yet. If I did, then I don't really care right about now. I just packed up everything I've got. I'm done with finals, and I'm ready to move home for winter break and into my new apartment when the spring begins. It's been a long night, what with Midnight Bud and all. There was much fun to be had tonight at Midnight Bud, especially playing bass drum!

But man, I don't remember getting all this stuff! At least two or three boxes has school/office supplies that was brought down here from Missouri. But then again, there are five boxes, at least three or four bags, a fridge, a TV, some groceries, a few minibags etc. So much stuff. It'll take at least five or six trips to bring down, which is going to be oodles of fun.

OODLES.

OF FUN.

To a specific penguin,

Thank you for looking over me. You sat on my dresser all semester (except when it was raining the ceiling) watching my door. You look down on everyone you meat, getting your name. I appreciate everything you do for me, including wearing my RAT cap for me and displaying it with pride.

Thank you, Judgmental Penguin. Thank you.

Love,
Wes

269-272

Oh jeez.

Well, for the record, Monday and Tuesday were mostly uneventful. As was Wednesday. Except, it was cold on Wednesday. I hate the cold. And it was cold today, Thursday. But I get to wear my Apocalyptica gloves now! So all is not lost, yet I still hate the cold. Praying for a quick end to fall/winter/the early, cold part of spring already.

So, since Blogger messes up whenever I try several pictures next to each other, I'm going to go ahead and describe them to you. First was taken on Wednesday. The Pit has a thing about pineapples, and I think Erin may have missed Vet Appreciation Day. So instead, Erin went ahead and got her Vet this awesome cape. SuperVet, to the rescue!

Next, it's me again! I had to take a picture for my sister. My mother, sister, and I are all auditioning for Wheel of Fortune. Why? Well, why not? I've been watching it for ages, and I even called out a letter during a show when I was only a 1.5 years old. It'd be cool to appear on it!

Then, I present to you, PAPER! That's my two stories right there, a combined 61 pages of paper. I did some hardcore editing today (if you can call it "hardcore") in the Student Center. It was nice to sit down and just read/edit for once.

Finally, the healthiest my fridge has ever been. Dean's French Onion Dip, Dr. Pepper, and orange juice. I had to grab some things from Publix yesterday after band, and while I was there I decided to grab the orange juice. I keep finding myself lacking in something to drink with my ramen at night, and this works out better than Dr. Pepper.

So there you have it! Four pictures, four days.

today's video is awesome physics...

Day 259-264

I have an excuse, I promise. Well maybe not for the past two days, but I do have an excuse. For the record, I need six pictures counting today. I did take pictures on most of these days (well, not Friday or Monday) so it's only partially cheating. Ahem.

(for the pictures, just skip this wall of text and head to the bottom)

So Friday things were going alright for the most part. No pictures that day, but I do remember being exhausted from staying up late and getting up early. Saturday was GAMEDAY (W21-16 over maryland). I was also exhausted, but for a different reason that I found out after the game. So we unloaded/reloaded our Pit junk so the battery/tubas could load their junk. I stumbled back to my apartment, fell on my bed, and napped.

Except, I didn't get out of bed until Sunday around 5pm, making it about 25 hours of sleep. So clearly I wasn't feeling well. I did remember getting up once for water (after telling many dream-people to get it for me with no success). When my phone's alarm went off Sunday morning, I was thinking that it was somebody texting me 13 times in a row, on three separate occasions. Fun times.

That's pretty much been my life for the past 4-5 days. I'm pretty much okay right now save for the hacking dry cough. So without much else to talk about, here are some pictures!

First four are from GAMEDAY. Buzz took all the RAT caps and gave them to the cool big guy here.
A Maryland player got seriously hurt at the game. Here's for the speediest recovery one can hope for.

Speaking of recovery, this is what I was trying to use to recover. It worked, I think. But it was nasty.

And finally, I was featured in a CROSSOVER!!! Hurrah! We made food together and took pictures (a combination of both of our specialties! how quaint). They're awesome people, made with awesomesauce. No joke.

But, uh, this picture wasn't on that day. That day was not yesterday. This picture was yesterday. I got invited over for DnD planning (woo!) and breakfast for dinner. It was delicious. They had bacon, so everything was right with the world.

So yeah, I'm not feeling terribly bad anymore. Just the occasional hacking-up-the-lungs coughing that passes by. So...yup!

today's video is a pretty cool photoshop tool demo...

Day 257

Blargh! Posting yesterday's update right now, then I'll worry about today's later.

Picture: SAC fields

Background: Plenty of jokes are made about the name of this field. I'll leave you to figure out why. Anyway, I had lots of time before band, so I went ahead and tried to get a little writing done. That's exactly what I got done as well: a little writing. So I stood up and took some pictures of the fields prepractice. There's a building right where the Pit loads/unloads that has some benches to sit at and relax. The only problem was that smoker that stood by me and bugged me for 10-15 minutes.

Ah well.

today's video is an odd song someone showed me that i grew to like...

Day 255, 256

Every time I see 256, I think 16 squared. Every time.

Picture: That's my RAT!

Have you heard of the Copy/Paste game? No? Great! What you do is say "Copy" after someone says or does something, and when you say "Paste", they have to repeat what they said/did just as they did it. It restarts at the end of the semester for people here at Tech. And this was my RAT doing his Paste. I'm kinda mad that I copied over his previous copy, but, oh well.

Still in the planning phases of RAT appreciation day, too. This "having no money" deal isn't working out to my advantage.

Picture: The Wall

Background: Well, last year I had sticky notes up in my dorm. Most of the ones on the right are the same as some of the ones from last year, and on the left is my Exam schedule. I've got a big TO DO note that has nothing under it because all my TO DO stuff is in OneNote.

There are two new ones that I didn't have up from my last large collection: one that's just interesting. and one that I took from xkcd that was taken from Katamari Damacy (from what I can tell).

Day 242-246

Oh jeez. I don't like that this is starting to turn into weekly updates.

But, pictures! Four from the game yesterday, one from the bus stop near the student center. The game was awesome (especially now that we're 4-0). Not much else to cover over the rest of the week, though. Not much stuff is happening other than school and band. Which is pretty much the entire set of photos is here.

I did do a miniature presentation of 20 of my best pictures to the photography club. The flash drive is floating around with some friends, but if you want to see what I consider some of my best pictures, then just ask me. Unless I have to mail it to you, then probably not, but I could send the files over when I get the drive back.

So yeah, here they are, five pictures!

here's a video to cheer you up...

Day 218-220

HA! Up to date!

Firstly, I don't know if I told you, but I'm writing a story. Right here, I wanted to show you about how thick it is. There are 44 pages there, all single spaced, nearly 30,000 words. I've been doing some editing in my free time. Which feels like almost never. I can never bring myself to work on it when I'm in my room, either. Something about having my laptop, TV, Xbox, etc all in one place is just barely distracting. But hey - it's a good time consumer when I'm idle. Plus, it's really enjoyable to see how far I've gotten so far.

When I'm not in class or at home, I'm probably doing something band related. The band did a couple of new sets today, so I took time out to take some pictures of the mallets I was using. That got some odd looks from one or two pit people, but I think this one looks good. I might have set the exposure a little too negative, but the ones with higher exposure made the mallets reflect light from the sun. That reminds me - I'm going to head to a photography club meeting this Thursday, and hopefully I can figure out some fun stuff from there. It also reminds me that I haven't uploaded any of these pictures to my hosting site in a long time...

I figure I'll leave you with something that I haven't posted up here in awhile. No, not a picture of me (sorry, ladies). I meant to take its picture when I went to Publix with my mother last week, but forgot all about it. When I went grocery shopping on Sunday, I had my camera with me and got this picture. Enjoy :)

The best part? My mother had parked in the parking spot that this label goes with.

Day 210-12

I miscounted and now have four pictures for three days. Whoopsies.

Well, here first is the scoreboard for Munchkin last night (Sunday night). Everybody got to leve nine one way or another, and we fought it out from there. Eventually S. Jr. was able to pull through, holding off his best cards until he was sure he could pull it off. That jerk! It was a lot of fun anyway, and it had been way too long since I had played Munchkin. Earlier there was also some lasagna made by some awesome people. It was delicious - enough to make a trip back to get seconds.

Next is a a little token of appreciation that one of the pit RATs gave me! It was just a little thread off of her shirt that she pulled off, but she told me to keep it when she went off to grab stuff from the band building. Me being me, I stuffed it into a side pocket and kept it. She was rather surprised that I did, apparently, and was happy.

We're strange people, the band.

It's now sitting in a safe box in my room somewhere. I really don't know why I want to keep it there. Don't judge me.

Last is my apartment room! It's mostly organized. The stuff under the bed is the fridge plus boxes left over from moving in. Don't tell my parents, but one of them might get used for HvZ instead of moving back home...Speaking of HvZ, my two bandanas are sitting right in front of the TV there. My gaming systems and music player are there too, and my phone is charging.

See the remote there? See what it's sitting on? It's a can. That can contains almonds. Natural, Whole, store-brand almonds. I didn't purchase them, and I wasn't planning to. The popcorn, the soda on the floor, the almonds? All bought by my mother for me. This is going to be a fun, but long, year.

today's video is fox news doing a good job...

Day 209

I owe you a day, gimme a break!

Picture: Another skyline!

Background: When you've got literally no time in the day, then this is about the only picture you're able to get. I'll probably get a picture of my new room at some point, but bear with me. This weekend is planning to be a long one.

The band is mostly done with the Prelude - just gotta get it cleaned and whatnot. Then there's also the Pit playing the crazy runs in it. There's also some of the second song that we've done, that we're playing tomorrow at the stadium for parents and the like. Since that's in the afternoon, it's going to be pretty danged hot standing out there in the sun. We'll see how that all goes. The Pit has the music for the three movements. We've gone through the first one, need to work on the second one more, and will start looking at the second one soon. We also have Starlight and Pumped Up Kicks for pre-pregame stuff. So far it's sounding really good, and it's good, college level music. I'm happy, to say the least.

today's video is an entirely different kind of flying, altogether...

Day 207, 208

Two days packed together - at least I'm not behind. And, as I was told by someone, I actually had the drive to get more than just a few days in and quit.

First picture here is a nice skyline over the top of the band. They were doing some set-by-set drill. For the non-band people, it means that they were going from one position on the field to the next altogether. While they were doing that, the Pit was kind of waiting around a bit. Someone pointed out the sky looked cool, and a few of us busted out cameras - all on phones but mine.

This other one was right before mini GAC. First, this is a friend of mine's hat hair, with the hat that caused it. The whole section got the same hats at Wal-Mart on Monday. HYPE! Currently mine is pirate style (think Jack Sparrow's hat). Second, mini GAC, or Miniature Get-A-Clue, was a small event about an hour long hosted all over campus. The RAT parents hid "clues" all over that led to each other. My group finished last, but we finished. That's actually the reason I didn't update yesterday - it was 1:30am by the time I got back to my place. Then again, I played Teeworlds for half an hour anyway...

today's video is one of the songs the pit has learned to play...

Day 205, 206

Whee!

Double update time!

First, it's the view from Klaus, down Ferst street. Cars chugging along, just after lunchtime, etc. Some friends and I went out to Ray's for some "New York style pizza". I got most of the way through my calzone, so I call it a success. Percussion camp when really well this week/weekend, and we got a lot covered. Plus, the show music is insane - in an awesome way. Lots of fun stuff going on in it, including some fast paced marimba runs which are always a bunch of fun.

So yeah, I'm moved into my dorm. First day of full band camp was today, and it was mostly just a short little practicing packed with welcoming the RATs to Tech. There's gonna be some fun later in the week, too. We'll see how that turns out!

Right here is the view coming down...Tech Drive? Correct me if I'm wrong (and I know you will). The two of us getting dropped off after section dinners, along with our driver, got out to take some pictures of the moon behind the pencil building and Tech Tower. It looked really mysterious, creepy, serene, whatever you want to call it. It made me wish I had a tripod, that's for sure. After a new camera, that would be next on my list of photography equipment to buy.

I've still got lots to unpack, but of course I've already got my laptop, TV, Xbox, and bed set up. I'm just like that.

Also, I'd like to say one last thing -

I GOT ADOPTED!

^_^

[meaning, a RAT adopted me as his Vet, and I'm happy]

^____^

Day 204

Blargh

Picture: RAT DANCE OFF!

Background: We had a little down time today during practice, so someone suggested we had a dance off for the RATs. I would've filmed the whole thing, but my camera batteries are running low. That makes me a bit nervous about tomorrow's picture, but I've got a backup that I took today of some other pit peeps.

The song they danced to?

This.

Pretty awesome, no?

Day 202, 203

This'll be quick

Pictures: Fire extinguisher label, and dinosaur nuggets eating each other

Good, long practice. Food was from lunch. Fire extinguisher in practice. Short post because roommate at the hotel is trying to get some sleep. But there's at least two pictures and I'm all caught up! Hurrah!

...omnomnom...

Probably should say something here where there's so much space. Oh well.

No video, sorry :(

Day 170

Well yesterday was July 11th, or 7/11. Which is 117 backwards. Aww yeah.

Picture: A parking lot

Background: I visited my high school band yesterday to see how they were doing - and they were doing really well! Maybe I'll be able to go see one of their games or competitions this year. I do miss the high school band a bit, but I don't mind that it's over. What passed is the past, and I enjoyed it then, so why hang onto the memory? Besides, I'm in a great band now with even more fun traditions (and it's a lot more chill compared to high school). I just can't wait until that week in August to maybe go dwarfing with a RAT that I might call my own...

today's video is buzz aldrin being awesome...

Day 158

Funny story...

Picture: d'awwwwww

Background: Last one from the video, I promise. So I left my camera out in the car. Whoopsies. I even have a picture for today on it. Guess that'll be tomorrow's! So you'll hear all about my fantastic idea I had at work later. Very little happened today, including someone texting me at 10am that I have no clue who it was. If you're that person, please let me know. Because I texted back and didn't get a response. And it was something to do with a pit section. And I wanted to answer your question, but I didn't know if you were talking GT Pit or WHS Pit. Because I didn't know who you were.

If you can navigate your way through those sentence fragments.

today's video has to do with the daily show...
