Day 357

Woo!

Okay, bare with me with the picture. I'm in Savannah, and this is some building across the river from the hotel. I tried to get a picture of it but someone bumped the railing and it turned out cool anyway.

Hours of driving were fun. Hours of work beforehand were fun. That's mostly been my day.

No video, no fun letter. Just a simple post. Sorry.

Day 354

Woohoo!

Picture: Penguin!

Background: And it's on a lamp! With a crochet penguin underneath! This was a Christmas gift that I just got. He knows my love for penguins, and decided to grab it for me while he was home in Hong Kong. I feel like this picture would go great with the "Your argument is invalid" caption.

Today was a long day. Work, class, class, work, home, eat, girlfriend*, eat, and post. Yes, I do know how to use commas, otherwise that'd be a little strange a little halfway through there. We'll see if I can't wake up again tomorrow morning.

With that, I guess I'll leave you with a song that I've been pretty much adoring today.

*yay!

Day 353

Welp.

Picture: The trees, buildings, and sky

Background: When walking home from my classes back to my new place, I got a chance to see this nice scene. The picture doesn't do it justice at all. Kindly ignore the orange fence, please. There wasn't a good shot with it out of the way, as there was also a pole over to the left that was a bit intrusive.

In other news, classes seem like they'll be the normal "Oh god why did I go to Tech" classes. Well, maybe not. They don't really feel like they'll be horrible, but I'm not planning on underestimating anything. Especially not when one of my TAs said that an 80-100 will generally give an A in her professor's class.

Finally, and definitely not least, I found someone :)

This nice song is what I'm listening to as I finish this post...

Day 351, 352

GNOMES!

ROOM!

I am hereby moved into my new place, and this is my setup. The bed is over there on the right, the TV straight away from it, and the laptop between them. Yes, there is a 36 pack of Dr. Pepper as well as a cable duct-taped to the wall. Don't ask questions.

I really should be sleeping, since tomorrow is the first day of classes. Whee!

Here's a video of a man getting hit by a train. I think you should watch it. Trust me.

Day 346

This post is dedicated to someone who, I just found out, lost their father this morning. I hope things go as well and gently as they possibly can.

Pictures: Battleship!

Background: So I put together this battleship that was on its way to be sold or given away to some lucky kid. I've had it for years now, but I really decided to put it back together one last time. I want to put together more complex things like this for the pictures, but I don't have that kind of Lego money right now. In the future, though, don't be surprised to open the blog and see pictures of other blocky creations!

I'll leave you with this fantastic, relaxing music video to enjoy. G'night!

Day 343, 344, 345

I'll post today's later, okay? I've got a plan for it, and it involves a battleship.

Here's some pictures from the New Year's Eve party I went to!

There was Munchkin, a card game that pokes fun at Dungeons and Dragons. There was also Rock Band. The AC/DC version of Rock Band, that is. I sang a song (horribly) as did some other people. Then we went to the nearby lake for festivities, including small fireworks, a telescope, a swing set, and fizzy drinks. Apparently there are fireworks that can be thrown into a lake, going off and making a poofing noise underneath the water.

I would've posted yesterday, but I had another party to go to with different people. Stranger people than those pictured above. We made lots of noise at Chilli's, then made even more noise at one of their houses afterward. It's a good thing his parents were home and trying to sleep, otherwise we would've been kicked out in no time or yelled at to shut up.

I know it's past Christmas, but the piano/guitar players had played this song at Mass and I love it.

Happy New Year!

Day 325

Picture: Friends!

Background: That guy on the bottom turned 21, so we had a miniature party for him. That's pretty the exciting part of my day. (Happy Birthday Billy)

My first final was this morning at 8am, and I woke up at 7:20am. I'm not a fan of getting up in the morning, so I was glad to get that over with.

That's all for today, studying tomorrow for a final Wednesday.

here's a lord of the rings video for you...

Day 322

Yeah

Picture: More CULC

Background: I went home from zombie movie night and snapped this. That's about all my day has been. Worked 1-3:30 (yay, job!). Dead week is over. Midnight laundry will shortly follow this post.

To my body,

You've made it this far with a few naps along the way. Please forgive me for this upcoming Monday. I've got an 8am final that I need you to be up and ready for. I promise I'll let you rest afterwards. I guarantee it! So just hang on, things will be okay.

Then, you know, later that week you're gonna be moving heavy boxes. Yeah.

Bye!
Wes

Day 321

Woo!

Picture: Drawing time

Background: DND was tonight! We raided a house of some bad people. Not all of them were bad, but their higher-ups were doing bad stuff. The house is now burnt to the ground thanks to someone in our group, even though most of us were planning on just leaving it to a stone room in the basement. Frustration ensues.

Earlier today I actually presented a final project with my group and got to rant on in the peer review about the fourth group member who did nothing (and didn't show up for the presentation). It was...enjoyable

I also watched a pretty depressing movie on HBO2 called Never Let Me Go. I was sort of raging at the characters and at the TV for what was going on. So sad. Bah!

That's all for today. I guess I have to write another letter. Fun fact: these things are the only times I ever complain about anything, if they're even complaints.

To Borderlands,

Why do you make my head dizzy? I do not appreciate this. I really enjoy playing you. I haven't picked up an Xbox game in a long time, and this is how I get treated? Maybe I should get some sort of motion sickness pills or something, because this has happened with one or two other games, as well as this huge, 360 theater about helicopters that I went to once. You're still an awesome game, even though I'm on my4th or 5th run through.

Thanks,
Wes

Day 311

Isn't that the name of a band?

Picture: Starships!

Background: I was asked by a friend to have a box wrapped up in my room. He didn't have space in his room to wrap it up. In the box was a game to do with Star Trek. I took out a pair of ships and took a couple pictures. Only a couple turned out to be any good, unfortunately. I was trying to hurry so he could wrap it up.

Nothing else to report, other than the fact that it was a cold and rainy day today. I also finished editing/fixing the chapters I had left of my little story. Hopefully I'll get more done soon. I guess I have another letter to vague people.

To someone who will probably never see this,

I can honestly say that I would not be disappointed if I never saw you again. I don't hate you (at least, not now), but I don't like you. I do hate what you put me through, but I'm over it as much as I can be. I can't even figure out how much of it was me and how much of it was you, but I'm okay with not knowing. Life goes on. I hope you change, though. You were self-destructive no matter what I did to help, and put me through hell for trying.

I don't hate you. But I don't like you.

From,
Wes

...

Well that was kind of a morbid letter. Here's another starship to cheer you up!

Day 303, 304

Whee!

Some crazy HvZ people got hold of my camera and took some shots during the mini games over this past weekend. Some of them didn't turn out all that good, while others turned out pretty cool. Here's one of the resulting pictures. In the foreground is my roommate from last year, and I'm to the right in the background. I believe this was one of my winning rounds as a human.

The minigames were fun. Today I was able to make it to the escort mission type as well as the Zombie Circle of Death. The latter got my knees scraped, as I normally dive after humans when trying to nom them. 1 on 1 usually has the human winning thanks to humans being able to have a range stun while zombies can only tag. Irregardless, it was tons of fun. I shouldn't have worn a long sleeve shirt; I got really hot underneath it, and it was in the 60s all day (in NOVEMBER?!)(INTEROBANG?!).

As for today, it was rather uneventful. Nothing of note happened in life, save for the last regular season marching band practice.

Until tomorrow, hopefully.

If only they were a bit more badass in the background...

Day 301, 302

Bah!

It's 2:30am Sunday. I spent my morning reliving HvZ in a quick mission and spent the afternoon worrying. Part of it was about a team project that'll have to be done soon, and the other part about money that I don't have. Then the million other things that bug me. Bah! Instead of reading my ranting, here's some pictures.

I mean, who doesn't love a manhole with sperm all around it? Seriously. Anyway, that's all for this weekend. I'm still going to have a post for tomorrow to, I just wanted to put both manhole pictures up because they're pretty funny. When I first saw this (because all I do when I walk is look at the ground) I had to laugh. There are some vandals (or pandals?) with great senses of humor.

And if you don't recognize those two in the first picture, well, it's not from a lack of me mentioning them.

Day 283

So I'd like to welcome all these visitors from Amazing Super Powers. I decided to start linking here from my comments there, and apparently people actually click the links in other comments' names. How quaint. It's a great webcomic, and a hilarious read if you get the chance. I hear they've got secret comics, but I probably shouldn't talk about that.

If I get any regular readers from that, they'd bring my total up to...four!

Picture: Dragonite!

Background: I'm starting to play DnD again. Because of this, I get to use my Pokemon dice bag again! I found it during summer break one day when I went to go find all my old Pokemon cards. It had some marbles in it (which I kept, too), so I replaced them with marbles that have corners and lines and things of that sort.

The DnD group is with a bunch of people I met thanks to HvZ/band. Some of them read this. I'm looking at you, CSA chefs! So far we've only played once, but we're playing again tomorrow...I think. Well I just remembered something that may be conflicting, but hopefully not.

(Happy Halloweeen. Quit reading this and go get scared.)

today's video is exactly what i plan to do tomorrow...

Day 279-282

I was messing up the count earlier, and I owe you four pictures counting today's. Okay. It won't be too hard because it's Halloween soon!

So what we have here is some friends! Nyancat, Waluigi, an Indian pirate, and a L4D hunter. That last one is me, too! There were some really cool costumes at the band party, including 99% protesters and a man in a suit holding a sign saying "I am the 1%", Link/Zelda couple, Britney Spears in her "crazy phase", Avatar, and others. Crazy cool.

Then there's that scoreboard. You see that? That's a win. Against the now 8-1 clemson tigers. By the means of our team. Victory tastes so sweet.

On top of that, I'm auditioning to be on Wheel of Fortune! So this weekend has been really awesome, and maybe Tuesday will be even better when I try out!

today's video also deals with clemson...

Day 259-264

I have an excuse, I promise. Well maybe not for the past two days, but I do have an excuse. For the record, I need six pictures counting today. I did take pictures on most of these days (well, not Friday or Monday) so it's only partially cheating. Ahem.

(for the pictures, just skip this wall of text and head to the bottom)

So Friday things were going alright for the most part. No pictures that day, but I do remember being exhausted from staying up late and getting up early. Saturday was GAMEDAY (W21-16 over maryland). I was also exhausted, but for a different reason that I found out after the game. So we unloaded/reloaded our Pit junk so the battery/tubas could load their junk. I stumbled back to my apartment, fell on my bed, and napped.

Except, I didn't get out of bed until Sunday around 5pm, making it about 25 hours of sleep. So clearly I wasn't feeling well. I did remember getting up once for water (after telling many dream-people to get it for me with no success). When my phone's alarm went off Sunday morning, I was thinking that it was somebody texting me 13 times in a row, on three separate occasions. Fun times.

That's pretty much been my life for the past 4-5 days. I'm pretty much okay right now save for the hacking dry cough. So without much else to talk about, here are some pictures!

First four are from GAMEDAY. Buzz took all the RAT caps and gave them to the cool big guy here.
A Maryland player got seriously hurt at the game. Here's for the speediest recovery one can hope for.

Speaking of recovery, this is what I was trying to use to recover. It worked, I think. But it was nasty.

And finally, I was featured in a CROSSOVER!!! Hurrah! We made food together and took pictures (a combination of both of our specialties! how quaint). They're awesome people, made with awesomesauce. No joke.

But, uh, this picture wasn't on that day. That day was not yesterday. This picture was yesterday. I got invited over for DnD planning (woo!) and breakfast for dinner. It was delicious. They had bacon, so everything was right with the world.

So yeah, I'm not feeling terribly bad anymore. Just the occasional hacking-up-the-lungs coughing that passes by. So...yup!

today's video is a pretty cool photoshop tool demo...

Day 230-240

TEN PICTURES GO

Okay, so here's the deal. Humans versus zombies was all last week, so I didn't get much done in terms of pictures, but I should have enough pictures from the week/other things to put up here. I don't feel like having to explain each one, but I just might.

First, we have zombies! I got tagged on Tuesday (bummmmmmer) but that let me go hang out with the cool kids for the rest of the game. This was before our escort mission on what I believe is Wednesday. I recognize four of the people in this picture. Probably should put this on FB.

BEWARE OF ZOMBIES. At the sign in mission on Thursday. I banged my knee really, really hard at that mission. I had to go to the student health center afterward because I could barely walk. When I got there, though, I felt fine. It was fantastic. I'm feeling better now, so don't fret too much.

We dominated that mission, and nommed a few humans as well.

These two are right next to each other on the Thursday or Friday night mission. Usually my pictures in darkness turn out bad, but I was on some steps, so I could actually have my camera perfectly still. I set the exposure pretty high, and this is what came out of it. Probably my best night pictures, right here, but I'm not too keen on the yellow light. I feel like there's a setting somewhere on my camera that could fix it, but I have yet to actively look for it.

Now, there's this. It was branching off of a weird growth on a tree during one of the afternoon missions, near the President's office. There were two of these trees, and the other had nothing like this going on.

My guess?

Biological experiment by some Tech student.

...it was weird

Now, ZOMBIE FINAL GROUP! This wasn't nearly as many as we actually had, from the looks of it. More came out later, I think. We had probably 100 or so zombies show up/be active during the final day. It was intense.

...oh Jevone, you so crazy

This would be one of the OZs making the final speech before the finale began. Yeah, there were two. I totally would've survived if they weren't so thorough about the whole "let's kill all the vet players" deal. Jerks.

...I still don't like you, Anthony. You and your Google+ shirt.

Just a snake and a laser printed player card. Both were things I didn't think I'd get to see during the game (I totally wanted to tag the guy with the laser printed card. SO damn awesome).

So yeah, asdgjasfblawr the picture of the Portal cake didn't turn out how I wanted it too, since it became a little fuzzy. But I still wanted a picture of it. So here it is! Baked by two of the readers who were getting on me for not updating.

HAPPY?!

Finally, we have the Horde. The picture still underestimates the true size of it nearing the end of the finale. The best part about the day was having everyone in a single quad, and two humans coming up stairs into sight. The entirety of the Horde charged out after them, which made me laugh pretty hard. It's a shame I didn't get a video of it, it was too awesome.

today's video is asdf...

Day 210-12

I miscounted and now have four pictures for three days. Whoopsies.

Well, here first is the scoreboard for Munchkin last night (Sunday night). Everybody got to leve nine one way or another, and we fought it out from there. Eventually S. Jr. was able to pull through, holding off his best cards until he was sure he could pull it off. That jerk! It was a lot of fun anyway, and it had been way too long since I had played Munchkin. Earlier there was also some lasagna made by some awesome people. It was delicious - enough to make a trip back to get seconds.

Next is a a little token of appreciation that one of the pit RATs gave me! It was just a little thread off of her shirt that she pulled off, but she told me to keep it when she went off to grab stuff from the band building. Me being me, I stuffed it into a side pocket and kept it. She was rather surprised that I did, apparently, and was happy.

We're strange people, the band.

It's now sitting in a safe box in my room somewhere. I really don't know why I want to keep it there. Don't judge me.

Last is my apartment room! It's mostly organized. The stuff under the bed is the fridge plus boxes left over from moving in. Don't tell my parents, but one of them might get used for HvZ instead of moving back home...Speaking of HvZ, my two bandanas are sitting right in front of the TV there. My gaming systems and music player are there too, and my phone is charging.

See the remote there? See what it's sitting on? It's a can. That can contains almonds. Natural, Whole, store-brand almonds. I didn't purchase them, and I wasn't planning to. The popcorn, the soda on the floor, the almonds? All bought by my mother for me. This is going to be a fun, but long, year.

today's video is fox news doing a good job...

Day 207, 208

Two days packed together - at least I'm not behind. And, as I was told by someone, I actually had the drive to get more than just a few days in and quit.

First picture here is a nice skyline over the top of the band. They were doing some set-by-set drill. For the non-band people, it means that they were going from one position on the field to the next altogether. While they were doing that, the Pit was kind of waiting around a bit. Someone pointed out the sky looked cool, and a few of us busted out cameras - all on phones but mine.

This other one was right before mini GAC. First, this is a friend of mine's hat hair, with the hat that caused it. The whole section got the same hats at Wal-Mart on Monday. HYPE! Currently mine is pirate style (think Jack Sparrow's hat). Second, mini GAC, or Miniature Get-A-Clue, was a small event about an hour long hosted all over campus. The RAT parents hid "clues" all over that led to each other. My group finished last, but we finished. That's actually the reason I didn't update yesterday - it was 1:30am by the time I got back to my place. Then again, I played Teeworlds for half an hour anyway...

today's video is one of the songs the pit has learned to play...
